A Monlam is a grand traditional prayer festival organized by Tibetan monasteries during auspicious days. This year, we have chosen to hold The Great Thekchen Monlam to coincide with the Vesak Day Celebrations from 2 nd  May to 26 th  May 2019.  By coming together in prayer, the efficacy is amplified through our collective effort, all obstacles shall be overcome, and auspicious conditions generated for us all to lead meaningful lives guided by the teachings of the Buddha. We shall dedicate the merits of this festival to the long and healthy life of all our spiritual teachers and for the continuous peace and prosperity of our nation and the world; and may all auspicious conditions arise for the benefit of all sentient beings.

About Namgyalma Practice 
It is said in the sutras that the practice of Namgyalma (also known as Ushnisa Vijaya) was taught by Buddha Shakyamuni to a celestial being on the brink of death, and successfully extended his lifespan. Namgyalma is thus one of the 3 deities of long life (together White Tara and Amitayus), traditionally relied upon to give good health, long life and protection against untimely death. The practice of Namgyalma is also a very powerful practice to purify obstacles and negative karma we have accumulated from countless lives. It is said that any animal which hears the Namgyalma mantra would have lived its last life in the lower realms. The practice of Namgyalma prevents us from falling into unfavourable rebirths. It is even powerful enough to liberate someone who has committed the five uninterrupted negative karma and from the lowest, inexhaustible hot hells.
